When the pandemic shut down professional fighting gyms in California, it left many aspiring boxers and mixed martial artists without an outlet to work on their craft. Since being founded last June, Backyard Squabbles — a backyard fight club based in South Los Angeles — has restored that platform for many local amateurs and pros.

When ART+BIO Collaborative brings its Science Murals initiative into new neighborhoods in El Paso, Texas, walls that once signaled division are reimagined as windows into exploration and learning. Through this initiative, emerging artists and scientists work side by side to transform blank walls into vibrant narratives inspired by scientific imagery, history and community stories. These murals are more than public art. They transform everyday spaces into places of wonder.
